OH MY GOD....SHES FINALLY HERE!!
As you can probably tell from the missing daily postings, i've been a little pre-occupied!
Heres how the story goes....
Saturday went to Davids Uncle and had a Chinese, had a good giggle at the Telly and came home around 9ish.
Sunday 5.30am, woke up with what felt like period pains (its been a long time since i've had them!) but wasn't sure if it was the Chinese that was repeating. Around 6.30am i got up and was looking on the Internet (sad i know!) but just wanted to take my mind off things. I started timing the pains and they were every 3-4 minutes but only for about 20-30 seconds long.
At 7, David woke to ask what was up, so i told him, and that was that. Up and dressed in 10 seconds flat chucking stuff in my hospital bag, i let him get on with it while i made a cup of tea. I then got in the bath around 8ish, at which time someone had arrivedto buy Davids motorbike. I bet he never would have believed David if he'd said his wife was upstairs in labour!!
When David came back in, he phoned the hospital as the bath did nothing. Midwife advised us to stay home until contractions were a minute long (god help us, there is no way i could have stood them a minute long!!)
Midwife advised i take some paracetemol, so David went to the shop. As he returned my waters broke.
Waters were discoloured (baby had had a poop inside, possibly distressed) so we phoned hospital back. She advised to go straight in.
More water kept coming as i was walking into hospital, it is such a gross feeling, prob. like the feeling when you are an old codger and wee yourself!
I was admitted and examined. It was at this point a second opinion was needed, as you can imagine i was panicking as to what this meant.
It was then discovered at this point baby was bum first!!! (funny thing is i was a bum first baby too)
I then had around 2 minutes to decide whether to have a Caesarian or try to carry on. Doctors left the room and i decided on a Caesarian, when they returned and checked again they advised for me to carry on as it was nearly there!!
They arranged an epidural as i had only been having gas and air to that point, however within15 minutes of giving epidural she was here so i didn't get the full effect and still felt the pain, and boy was it pain!!!
But the minute i heard her cry at 12.39pm and David and Mum were saying 'she's here! she's here!' it was all worth it.
They weighed the little chunk and she was a massive 7lb 14oz!! (all those KFC's, Burger Kings, Chinese, Wotsits, Hula Hoops had really bulked her up!!)
After being cleaned up we were moved to the ward. We had visitors that evening and the next morning and were let home Monday tea time. As baby still had no name we decided on Ruby Leigh Frere late Monday night after much deliberation.
Since then i dont know where the time has gone, i cannot believe how much washing one little person causes!
Its been a routine of sleep, drink, change, cry, drink, sleep and as for baby...... (only kidding!!)
Getting into hang of things, i think, but worrying slightly about David going back to work and not having the extra pair of hands in the day - but im sure ill manage!!
Right, best get dressed now while i have the chance!
